Vinyl, cassette etc to pc

I am looking for some free software that will allow me to record from my tapes on to my pc (Windows xp, 3.2 gig proccessor, 2 Gig ram) I know creative supplies the software with their soundcard but I cant find a free copy and not sure if creative will work with my AC97 or I have a new soundcard Im about to instal being a Hercules Muse 5.1 anybody got any ideas.

I also tried the audacity software but couldnt find anywhere on that software that would do the trick either.

For free, I'd download Audacity. You need a seperate small download to be able to export as MP3 files, but it's explained on the site.
