how does a mp3 player work?

i want to get a mp3 player but i dont know how they work i dont want to have to buy songs online because i have a lot of cds and i dont want to have to rebuy them can u put the cds on them? thanks

Learn to put them as MP3's on your PC. Once there, you can put them on a portable player. You don't have to download, as there are many CD rippers out there, and you can just use what you have if you want.

Musicmatch is free, I got it and use it to convert my music to mp3 dont go spending money. also all the music you download free will go on mp3 player, not that you would consider doing anything illegal like not paying royalties etc.

Best one to get is very hard. Ipod seems to be a fave, but I have heard so much about them breaking down, locking, the way they manage the music etc.

If I were you I'd just get a cheapie (25 - 30 quid) to start. These are just basically memory sticks with earphones, but I have one and it does me.

Personally I can highly recommend the iPod. You hear more about iPods breaking than any other device simply because they vastly out-sell the other brands' devices.

I'd strongly recommend using iTunes however to organise your music. It works especially well with an iPod, but it can organise your music for any player you choose, and lets you 'rip' your CDs (turn them into mp3 files), as well as 'burn' (create) new CDs with your favourite songs on. Just make sure you go into the preferences first and change the import settings from AAC to mp3 so that the files are compatible with all generic mp3 players.

I've got an MP3 player that takes WMA (normal music cd files) files aswell which means you don't have to convert them to MP3s. Most MP3 players now take WMA files and you can get a pretty good one quite cheap. i put my songs on my player by windows media player.

ems86: wma is not standard audio CD files. It's just another music format similar to mp3, but is of higher quality to the same-sized mp3 file. They're less universally compatible than mp3 though. aac is another format again like wma and mp3, but is a standard format like mp3; wma is microsoft's proprietary format.

Yeah thats kind of what i mean that thats the format cds come up as when you copy them onto the computer. then with my version of WMP you can just sync them with the MP3 player. Well thats how it works with me anyway. I know what i mean lol:D
