I find that tabbed browsing is very useful when researching (constsntly comparing on one site and another) and has been standard in Safari for years, Firefox and Opera now have it but IE is just like the Netscape it copied 8 years ago.

yes it has to be firefox at the minute. Internet Explorer 7 is very similar to firefox and the font display in IE 7 has improved so much every web page now looks like a print preview mode which is great. Except IE7 is still in BETA mode at the moment and not full proper release until the new Windows Vista
jason: microsoft have copied a lot of firefox's features in IE7, but it's still a world away. The standards support in IE7 is still below par (firefox and opera are streets ahead).
firefox is likely to be ahead for a while, because it's free software and so anyone can develop it. any security issues it faces are crushed almost immediately, unlike in IE.
I'd agree with the above in that firefox is the best for windows. if you're using some flavour of GNU/Linux then firefox is also currently the best. Mac OS X is a bit of a strange one. firefox does run on it, and it runs quite well, if a bit slow. however, because it's not written in the native cocoa framework like other Mac OS X apps, it doesn't fit in with the rest of the OS quite as well. Safari is a good browser and, as you may imagine, fits in very well with the OS. Camino is a browser written by the mozilla group (same as firefox), but written to fit in more with Mac OS X. Another good browser for Mac OS X is omniweb.

Aghhh, you've all been brainwashed. I've been trying Firefox for a couple of weeks now and I'm fed up with having to adjust the font size or open a page in IE because Firefox doesn't support this that or the other.
Whats the big problem with IE I want to know..they talk about security issues etc but I've been using it along with millions of others and we're all still here. If you want to tab browse then use Avant which is IE with tabs more or less.
You buffs are purists with this "proper language" and the like but if Firefox truly was the best then they would adapt it to work with all sites instead of blaming the sites authors for using incorrect copde or language or whatevr it is that stops it working!
Brainwashed, thats what you all are, and it's a bit sad really. The thing is you see IE works with evrything , does everything, opens ALL pages etc etc. I rest my case..
