maybe its just ******** :P

Try it in a friends PC and see if it works in there
Does it appear in Device Manager?

Does your motherboard have onboard graphics which it will have defaulted to if your GFX card has failed?

Assuming you do have onboard graphics have you been tinkering with the BIOS settings and disabled the AGP?
