DVD-ROM / CD-ROM

I have some software on a DVD-ROM disk. Is there any way that I can install the software onto a PC that only has a CD-ROM drive ?

Alternatively is there any way that I can convert the disc into a CD-ROM - by making a copy some how ? I have a CD-burner and Nero. Any ideas appreciated.

You will need to borrow a DVD-ROM drive in order to read data from a DVD. You should be able to copy data from the DVD onto your hard drive then onto a CD (bear in mind a DVD can hold upto 4.3 GB of data compared to 700 MB on an 80 minute CD). Also, if you span an installation program over more than 1 CD, you may get failed installations as it won't be told to expect not to read some parts of the installation data (if that makes sense). In this case copy all of the spanned CDs to one location on your hard drive then start the installation from there.

Save the hassle - just buy a new DVD-ROM drive and stick it in. With the recordable DVD drives out now, standard (read-only) ones are really cheap. You won't have to pay more than �30 for one (inc VAT).

Thanks guys. I already have a DVD -ROM on my PC at home. Here's the deal.....I have created the Order of Service for my wedding on my PC at home using Picture IT 2002. I wanted to install the software on my PC at work so that I could print them out at work on the laser printer - much quicker than my ink-jet at home (yes a bit sly I know !). I have since discovered that Picture IT 2002 dosn't run under NT anyway so it dosn't really matter anyway !! Thanks.
