avi files

hi,can anyone tell me how to dwnld avi files from my laptop onto a dvd?have tried numerous times but keep getting a 'format not recognised' msg.thanks.

what are you burning as/with and what are you trying to achieve ie a watchable dvd or a data dvd to free up room on ur hdd ?

hi mattk,thanks 4 reply.basically i download films tv etc from a friends computer onto mine.they are all avi files and i want to copy them onto a blank dvd plus rw so i can watch on a dvd player.tried winavi but know joy.

the files work ok on your pc?
you need to change the file type. Some DVD players will read avi files, but not all. In winAVI, choose the AVI-DVD function. It wiil then convert to DVD format video. You need to burn these to your DVD disc.
