Wireless usb?

Is there such a device that lets you send usb wirelessly? Eg i have a external USB hard drive which is conneted via a wire and i would like to access the usb hardrive on the other side of the room without plugging it in. Is this possible? Also it if is is it possible for other USB devices to work remotely?

well ahead of you....it's pretty old technology really, i'm amazed that this hasn't been available for years.
