Preventing 'history' from happening

I know how to remove the visited sites from my Google history, but is there a way of preventing them from registering in the first place? I also find my Alta Vista history registers on Google, and vice versa - anyone any ideas?

Andy , im no expert but this works for me ,go -tools-internet options-content-autocomplete then untick forms . this should stop the dropdown menu of previous searches the next time you use google. hope this helps

but obviously this will affect the auto complete on other things (like logging in to answerbank!) ive not thought this through ,have i!!
