Ipod video

Hi does any one know if you can out actual movies on the Ipod video as you can with an Archos video? or do they have to be movies bought from ipod?

Yuo need to get a video converter.
I think I-pods run on MPEG4.
I'm still trying to find a decent one that converts to 3gp/mp4 files for my phone.

ipods and PSP play the mp4 format like bob says. Nero Recode is a great program that will convert ripped DVDs into this format. So if you happen to have ripped a movie with something like DVDdecrypter, and run it through Nero Recode, it will format it for those devices.
Copies of it often come bundled with OEM versions of Nero on ebay for about a fiver.

I use HANDBRAKE to rip DVD's. Its very easy but takes a while. Once its finished you simply add the new file to your itunes library then select 'convert for ipod use' and your done. Like I said its very easy but just takes time.

You can get a DVD ripper to rip your own DVD movie to MP4 format, then put into iPod. I always use Wondershare DVD to iPod Ripper to do that, very easy to use and works great for me, it help me save tons of money from duplicated purchasing movie from iTunes online store, you may download it for a trial.
