Hi everyone,
In my house we use the internet all the time and whilst me and my dad use the modem on the family computer, my brother uses it on his laptop.
We have loads of arguments about who has the internet and when etc and we need a solution ASAP!
Could anyone tell me whether or not it is possible to have two modems in the house, opperating on one internet source?
I would be grateful for any responses! Thank You.

You just need to buy one router. The router will allow several computers to be connected to the internet at the same time.

They can connect either by ethernet cable from pc to router or wirelessly, if the computers have a wireless adaptor.

Or a mixture.

Apologies, Jenna

The router will only work if you are on broadband, not dial up connection.
No, you can only have one in use at once, be it a 'makes a noise when connecting modem' or ADSL modem.

You need to look at connecting your computers with a network, either cable or wireless, and sharing one modem.

Cable is probably cheaper, but going for wireless now will partly future-proof you when you move to ADSL.

And why aren't you moving to ADSL (broadband)?! If you consider spending money on network hardware, consider going for an ADSL wireless router.
