I'm trying to connect another pc to the internet off the ethernet connection from my bt voyager 205 router, but it will not connect. i keep getting In Network connections with WinXP it simply says "Limited or no connectivity" if i go into this further the explination it gives is: "You might not be able to access the Internet or some network resources. This problem occurred because the network did not assign a network address to the computer" Clicking on Repair simply results in failure: "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Renewing you IP address the pc downstairs connects to the internet no problem through the usb connection on the router , but i would really like to get the upstairs computer connected as well through the LAN. please help. many thanks

Several things to try. Firstly, switch absolutely everything off.

Wait a minute or two. And switch on in the following order:

Modem (if you have a separate modem). Wait till the light settle down.

Router. Wait....

Pc
Pc


If that doesn't work:
Turn your firewall settings down or off, temporarily, and then try 'repair'.

Have you configured your router to be the DHCP server and allocated a range of available IP addresses ?

If PC 1 is switched off is it possible to connect with PC 2 and vice versa ?

This may confirm this.
