windows messenger connection loss

My internet connection is wireless and I can connect without problem, however when I attempt to log on to windows messenger my connection is lost. I've turned off my norton firewall to see if this was the cause but the problem is still there? Very grateful for an answer, many thanks.

Is it just your msn messenger connection that goes down? Or your entire internet connection. Try downloading a large file and seeing if it completes all the way to the end. Also, try opening msn messenger while a download is going, and see if the download stops.

I've had problems trying to sort friends wireless networks with poor reception. Sometimes it's hard to spot the net going down because you aren't really using it at the time.
