Can anyone help me out? I printed a document the other day and the paper got jammed and now I am getting an error message on the printer saying I should contact my local dealer. Then it says communication error. The printer still thinks that there is still a piece of paper still in there but there isn't as I have taken it out. Epson have said it could be a sensor . I have tried taking it apart and I couldn't find out what was wrong with it. Can anyone tell me what I should look for to repair it myself. It is an epson stylus 580. It hasn't been a very good printer so I am reluctant to spend any money having it repaired and would rather do it myself. If it can't be reapaired can anyone please reccomend a good 3 in 1 printer that prints very good digital images from my digital camera. I also want a good scanner in the 3 in 1 to scan my wedding photo's and negatives. So if my current printer can't be repaired or is not worth getting reapaired then what is the best 3 in 1 to buy . I don't want to spend more than 130 pounds. I also want to be able fill the ink cartridges myself. Thank you very much in advance for any infrormation.I am really grateful. clarelouise.

Aldi are doing/will soon be doing a Lexmark scanner/copier/printer for around 80, I have the same model from a previous offer, and have found it reliable. However I'm not 100% convinced that it will be of sufficiently high quality for VERY GOOD images - on the other hand, I don't think that m/any printers in the price range you mention will be! Never tried refilling the carts myself, but have had it done at Cartridge World, so I assume you can do it yourself. Also (I could be wrong here) I think that you will need a seperate device to scan negatives. I think some high-end printers may have this facility built in, but these will be way over your price range again.
Did the paper tear as you took it out? I had the same problem with my Epson Photo-ex. It turned out that there actually was the tiniest fragment of paper in there. As soon as that was taken out the printer worked perfectly again.
