internet keeps crashing!

my computer recently went haywire!
i had to have windows taken off completely and a new version put on.
since then, when i'm on-line, after approx. 10 - 20 minutes it crashes. everything freezes and i have to switch it off at the plug.
does anyone have any ides how to stop this from happening?
I am computer illiterate, so please 'speak slowly!!!'

It could be any number of things but probably hardware related. You need to discuss it with someone who could talk you through a series of checks, whilst you are online.
