Earlier this week I had had a problem with this message when I switched on my PC
"One of the files containing the Systems Registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternative copy. The recovery was successful"
A helpful ABer advised me to use my installation disc and run sfc /scannow. This I did and it was apparently successful but today this message has returned - should I just repeat this action or is there a better way please?
many thanks

have just checked my original ? - was answered by Paulst30 and was in computers section I find it a bit confusing to have a computers section when technology is usually successful whether computers or other !
In my experience, if this problem recurs it is a sign of a failing hard drive. Make sure you have backups of all your important stuff and prepare fro the final crash.

Thats cheered me up no end Rojash!

I recently acquired an external hard drive for backing up but am having problems with it and trying to resolve perhaps I should concentrate on that just in case
Try downloading a free piece of software called Registry Cleaner available from http://adserver.softwareonline.com which linked me to https//store.zoombli.com.

Although my problems were not the same as yours it solved my Registry problems.
