External Hard Drive Lettering

I run a Seagate hard drive for extra storage and this has been "E" since the beginning. I happened to plug in my new Sat.Nav. this morning (while the Seagate was switched off) and it has taken over the "E" and the Seagate has been changed to "G"
How do I reverse that please? This happened to my previous big storage and I ran into all sorts of problems trying to access things. I'm sure others have had this happen to them and I'd be glad ot some advice.

I will presume you are using Windows XP.

Right click My Computer and then click manage.

In the tree on the left expand storage then select Disk Management. Right click the drives concerned and click change drive letter and paths.... You can rename them to any available drive letter.

You cannot change your system drive...

Dear Kerplunk... just home..and very sorry to be so long in getting back to say MANY thanks. Been there, done that and E is back where it should be! Now hopefully if I have to plug in the sat nav again or some other flash drive...they will take up the next letter or will I have to re-assign them too?

You may have to plug them in and then re-assign them. They should take the letter you assign in future.
