Can anyone put an end to the mystery of why text in reports that I send by email (justification, spacing etc all checked prior) appears jumbled and out of order when it is viewed by one particular recipient. This is causing me no end of grief.

Thanks in advance for any help.

What e-mail software are you using?
Question Author
Orange - Incredimail Why?
I assume that the reports are attachements? are Word Excel...?
Question Author
Yes, the reports are mainly Word. Sometimes I send reports which include Word and pages from Excel workbooks.

I will soooooo pleased if you can tell me what is going on and how to put it right.

Thanks
I might be asking the obvious but does the recipient have Word and Excel installed on his/her PC ?
Ok this is what you need to find out. You say that it is only one recipient that is having this problem. Can you contact them and find out wht version of Microsoft Office they are using i.e. Office 97\office 2000. The reason i say this is because if the recipient is using an older version the formatting will appear all to ****. Let me know and i will be able to help. SID

The person is the sort who is always right !! I'm sure you know the type and he gives me lots of contracts so I don't want to upset him. Get the picture.
I have to be sure that it's not something I am doing before I ask him any questions. He definitely has Word and Excel installed on his PC.

Hi carriesmum. I deal with these sort of problems on a daily basis so can i suggest without being rude that you pamper his ego a bit and say that you want to send him something as a test because you think you might have a problem ( i suppose make him feel like he's helping a damsel in distress) Ok if you are using office 2000 create a word document go to file - save as - when the window opens at the bottom you will see the name of the document at the bottom in a small slit window and below that file type. Press the arrow next to it and from the list choose Word 95/97. Then resave the document again as a Word 2000 document under another name. Then send them both to his e-mail account and ask him to open both and let you know which one he can see properly. At this point you should be able to tell which version he has. Obviously put some text on the document so as to test the formatting. I know its a bit sneaky but i honestly believe that the gentlemen has an older version of word and it cannot handle the fomatting that is in place for Word 2000. I hope this helps. I'm on here til 4pm and will check in tomorrow. SID

Thank you very much for your answer SID I have done exactly what you suggested. The person is off shore at the moment so I haven't heard anything back yet. I do hope this solves the problem.

If you feel that you can help me with another computer problem - not of my making I have to add -can you reply to this and I will explain.

Thanks again.
Of course fire away....

SID...................are you still out there?

I have been away on business but still need your help. Are you still willing to help me with a PC software problem? Didn't want to just assume it was OK.
yes no probs
Question Author
OK - Thanks - here goes.

I purchased a External DVD /DVD RW which came with Nero software.
I strated to install the software and it stalled at about 70%. and would go no further. When I rang the company up they said that they would send a Nero disc that would overwrtie the previous info and everything would be OK. Not so. The information on the first disc does not allow the second one to be installed nor does it allow me to uninstall the first 70%. The problem I now have is because the whole of the info from the disc was not installed the "uninstall" part is not there. I am in limbo with no means of removing the rogue part of Nero, which gives me a FATAL ERROR message (never a good thing !) everythime I boot up. Is there a safe and simple way to remove this bit of partially installed software? System recovery doesn't work as the PC does not recognise the part that is installed. Please take into account my limited technical knowledge when and if there is a means of fixing this.

Am I a pest or what? Hope you can help Sid.
OK a couple of quick questions
1. Have you tried putting the first Nero disk back in and reinstalling? The reason i ask is that sometimes you get the option to re-install/modify/remove the program.
2. Have you tried removing it from add/remove programs in the control Panel?
And you are not pest i do this for a living and it is nice to help someone whe genuinely appreciates it. Get back to me soon. SID

The answer to both questions is YES.

I have tried everything I know how to do and even some things I was afraid to try incase I b****red up my whole system. Now that would be a calamity of the first order.

Still hope you can help me Sid. Thanks.

OK one more question...have you installed any software or hardware since Nero?
Question Author
As far as I can remember I have not installed anything since the Nero debachle.

Thanks Sid
