KVM switches

I have 2 pcs and am wanting to use a kvm switch to share the monitor etc. However, sometimes the second pc has to be unplugged and moved somewhere else. Will a kvm switch work with only 1 pc attached to it or does it need 2 to function? cheers - carlos

A Belkin KVM has up to 4 PC connections but happily runs with just 1 PC connected. I sometimes connect my laptop and sometimes not. If you switch to the one that is not connected you get a flashing light indicating it is not switched on or not connected.
