Once a spreadsheet has been input, is it possible to turn the whole thing on its side so the top cells are down the left hand side?

To transpose columns to rows and vice versa select the area of the spreadsheet you wish to change and click Edit → Copy.

Select a new cell outside of the highlighted copy area, click Edit → Paste Special..., tick the box for Transpose and click OK.

Remove the original cells to leave the transposed version of your data.
