Excel - SUMIF Criteria

Using the SUMIF function, I have a column of data as the range, and another as the sum range.

As the criterion for the SUMIF, I have a test on a VLOOKUP. I'm using the range column above as the lookup value, an array of two columns as the table array and 2 as the column number, then testing if the second column of the array equals "FALSE"

Can the SUMIF function take a VLOOKUP as its criterion? I'm not getting the result I expected.

The formula I used is almost identical to the one below, but for the sheet name.

=SUMIF($F$3:$F$1487,VLOOKUP($F$3:$F$1487,Sheet!$E:$F,2)="FALSE",$G$3:$G$1487)

TIA
