Strange message !

I've got Zone alarm freebie and had a message to say an update was available so I clicked to install it and after a few minutes it said 'Computer Associates Anti Virus is detected and may cause conflict with ZA, uninstall before installing ZA' what's that all about ???
I haven't touched it !

Be careful about Zone alarm updates.

Sometimes they download the chargable product, and that may also include an anti-virus program.

It seems the Zone alarm update product thinks you have another anti-virus product installed, from Computer Associates.

Zone Alarm seems to believe, rightly or wrongly, that you're running either InnoculateIT or eTrust anti-virus software, and it's indicating that these products can conflict with Zone Alarm.

If you're actually running one of these programs, you could uninstall it and replace it with AVG Free Edition (or possibly Avast). Alternatively, you can simply ignore the 'update available' message. (Unlike anti-virus software, firewalls don't generally need updating. The messages from Zone Alarm are just a way to draw your attention to their commercial products, which you don't need).

VHG was typing while I was posting but we seem to be in agreement.

The 'updates' from Zone Alarm are often trial (i.e. time limited) versions of their commercial software. It's usually best to ignore the messages.

Thanks guys, I'll ignore any future reminders I already have
AVG Freebie and Adaware, plus zone alarm, but I was a bit worried as I haven't added anything or altered anything. Probably trying to sell me things as you say, there were 3 options to click on !
