i want to watch a video and i can't because i dont have the application. the file is "Tp" so any help would be brilliant.

There is no recognized file type, having the extension .tp - Can you confirm the full file name ?

Can you right click on the file, go to Properties, then the General tab and tell us what it says next to 'Type of file:'

I'm wondering if it's from a hard drive video recorder.
My Humax PVR produces files with strange extensions. I can't remember if it's .tp but I can check when I get home tonight.

Try it in VLC.
It'll play anything, it certainly plays the videos from my recorder.
