netgear 108mbs

i'm now online using a netgear wt624 router which is supposed to be 108mbs, each tme i connect my signal shows as good or very god but only has a speed of 54mb.
can anyone explain to me how i set up my wireless to get the maximum speed available for my network

It's probably because your wireless network card is not capable of the higher speed.
Also, don't forget that this speed is only relevant for communication with other computers on the network, as your internet connection is unlikely to be more than 8mbs.
