I'm unable to use the spellchecker on my e-mail. Before changing to XP, I never had a problem. At first, I put it down to the fact that I was using 'Open Office', so I installed my old 'Word 97', but the same problem occurred. I get a message telling me that there is an error, but it doesn't define what it is, nor does it supply a remedy. When sending the e-mail I get another message telling me that the spellcheck was halted. Can anyone tell me how I can get the spellchecker to work, please?

what are you using to send you email, Outlook Express or Hotmail etc?

Outlook Express
Try re-installing outlook express from your XP disc also ensure you have all your windows updates including the service packs.

The spell checker is contained within Outlook express and is not dependant on MS Word or Open Office.

I've already done what you suggest, but the problem was still there. I mentioned the two programmes so that everyone would understand the whole situation. I'm also aware that OE has no connection to Word, but is usually installed.with the updates for Internet Express. I'm using the latest version of both.

I forgot to mention that I'm now using my laptop as my main computer, because I needed more space. The problem existed originally on my PC, but is still occurring on the laptop. So, maybe the problem is not with OE.
