This is indicative of bad memory if the board has an AMI bios.
Make sure the memory is seated correctly.
It may also be the internal clock IC that has failed.

Hi and thank you but i am not at all technical and do not understand what i have to do. thanks
The bleep sare coming from your motherboard on board speaker, its called bleep codes and it alerts you to something that has gone wrong when it performs the power on self test, when it tests all the hardware before loading the operating system.

Each motherboard has different bleep codes referring to a particular problem, however as it was said already, check your memory is seated properlly.

Do this by opening the side panel of the case with it taken away fromt eh power all together, on a table or something. Not on a carpet as this creates static which is bad if your touching the memory.

Touch the side of the case to get rid of static first then look for the long strip standing up from the circuit board beneath. Usually about 6 inches long with lots of chips on it.

Once located just press lightly on top of each side making sure its into its slot. You will know its in because the little clips on each end are clipped into the side of each memory stick, as in an anchor.

While the case is open its worth going round the other components just making sure all the hardware is connected up ok. Just by pressing each plug into its relevant bay. Theres nothing you can do wrong by pressing something in that is supposed to be there so dont worry.

It may be that the case was knocked about a little and caused something to pop out.

If that doesnt help let us know what mother board you have so we can get the right diagnosis for 4 beeps.

Cheers
First ... don't worry ... if it's only intermittent ... and always comes on when you cycle the power ... I doubt that it's your motherboard - my guess is that it's possibly your monitor's power save settings (unlikely),
If (why) you never switch it off (why) it's possible that it's locking into standby.

Having said that the beeps make me wonder if your graphics card is loose?
You need to listen to the timing of the beeps
see
http://www.amptron.com/html/bios.beepcodes.htm l

but it's true that most manufacturers use their own
so determine your motherboard make and google
yourMB + BIOS Beep Codes

also (first) try switching the monitor off when you've done
