black screen

i booted my laptop and initially seemed ok until i clicked on my account settings and then the screen went completely back.think theres power going into the laptop but laptop seems to have died. its a year old. any ideas?

I had the same problem with my laptop is your laptop very old mine was 3 years and the problem was the battery even though I had it plugged in the mains it went of as yours did I ended up replacing it got a good deal on a desktop as they wanted �110 for a new battery, even used the laptop hard-drive pick up a external caddy for the drive so the old laptop was not a complete waste, hope this helps
