2 hard disks

what is the set up for having 2 hard drives , im assuming you have 1 master and one set to slave ,im unsure as to whether i need to put windows on both drives or just the master drive and partition and format the slave drive .hope this makes sense. thanks

If they were on the same IDE chain then you would have one master and one slave drive. You only need one "system" partition (ie one partition with the operating system on) the rest is free space and you can partition these up as you like. Usually you would have the first partition of the master drive with the system files on it but this is not always the case.

thanks j2. ok so ive got the master drive with xp on it ,so what about the slave drive do i just do use fdisk to reformat the drive then it should all work ok?? does the slave drive have to have a partition?
In XP, right click My Computer > manage > see disk management > you will see the all the disks here and you can create partitions and format them. In other words, you do not use fdisk (this is used for DOS) and you must create a partition and format it in order for you to store data on the drive.
