For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I'm not familiar with the Fireworks software but having a quick look at Fireworks MX 2004 I've found this.
Make sure you have the Properties Palette open on screen.
Click on the Image Size Button.
Change Resolution to 300 Pixels/Inch.
Resample Image using Bicubic.
Select JPEG - Better Quality from the drop down list.
Go to FILE > EXPORT.
Save As > Images Only.
Click EXPORT.
As I said before, I've never use Fireworks but I always resort to the File > Export method if I need to change a file format using various software packages. The Save As method doesn't always give you too many formats to choose from.
