I have Limewire on my PC and have done for ages, however.... when I went to use it last week I found that it wouldn't connect and is showing the little symbol that means that a firewall is blocking it.
I have tried switching off my firewalls - I have AVG and Windows firewall, but even with them both disabled, Limewire still thinks its being blocked. I've looked at limewires help page, and nothing there has been helpful or relevant.
The firewalls have never been a problem before and I don't think we've got any other software capable of blocking it.
As a last resort I tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling it, and even that hasn't worked.
Can anyone help? I'm female and a more then a little blonde, and so I may need this explained in uncommonly obvious terms if possible please!!
Thanks,
Charlie

It is probably the firewall built into the router. I wouldnt worry about it though as Limewire and Frostwire both always say "behind a firewall" with me but it has no effect on download speeds.
Not that I use them anymore. Its safer to use torrents. Slightly!

mines actually stopped downloading alltogether....i don't suppose u know how to get it off the router?
or in fact....what the router is for that matter, and how i go about locating it?
I cant see your modem/router being the problem and theres no way Ill advise you to run without a firewall especially if you use P2P.
Can you download normally, such as from the net?
If so, try uninstalling Limewire and re-installing it. Or give Frostwire a go, which is supposed to be better.
There is just so much to download! Whether I want hip hop, R&B, jazz, Rap, Country, trance, techno, alternative and rock music/movies, they have it all. Great product!. Try it http://www.kazaa-platinum.com
