It's not only Tesco that buy land for that purpose - Morrisons and Sainsburys do too.
I don't see anything wrong with Tesco's opening in Poland. I can't think of one good reason for them not to. Polish people are entitled to just as much choice as us. If they don't like it, they shop elsewhere.
I buy groceries and household cleaning goods from Tesco, meat from a farm butchers 15 miles away and fish from my local fishmonger. Vegetables from the farm shop and local greengrocer.
I make my own bread.
Tesco is a mile and a half away, but my local supermarket is awful. Dirty, expensive and very limited range. Oh - I recycle all my recyclables at Tesco while I'm there.
The huge indoor shopping centre 3 miles from my local town has killed my High Street - BHS, M&S, Argos and so on have all relocated to this out of town shopping centre with its free car park. At least Tesco is still in the town.
