DVD-R Disc Playing Problems
1 Answers
I've been given a DVD-R compilation disc which included five movie titles, such as "Norbit[2007]DvDrip[Eng]-aXXo"
I only wanted to watch the above movie and it played fine on my PC using Yahoo Player as the default viewer and .avi as the file extension. The stand-alone DVD players I have will not play the disc.
I wanted to convert the one title into a format that would play on a DVD player and it was suggested on AB that I use "eRightSoft super c". I downloaded the software and dropped the file into the appropriate window. I then proceeded to convert the .avi file to a .VOB file, which seemed the most appropriate for playing on a DVD player. The new file had the title: Norbit[2007]DvDrip[Eng]-aXXo.avi.VOB and by chance, I discovered that I could burn it to disc via the UDF(?) system in Nero.
The disc plays fine from beginning to end in the PC DVD Drive. However, I'm experiencing problems in the stand-alone DVD players.
When the disc is inserted in the drive a double columned menu appears with rows with the movie title at the top of the second column. The rows are otherwise empty. The title is highlighted and when I press play again on the DVD player, the movie starts. The movie then plays for just over 34 minutes before it suddenly stops revealing the menu again. This time when play is selected, the movie starts from the beginning. I can't watch anything beyond that 34 minutes.
I can't understand why this fault doesn't happen on the PC DVD player. I doubt it's anything to do with a dual layer disc as the movie is around 92 minutes long and 34 minutes seems short for the change over. Besides, all the players will play dual-layer discs and the DVD-R the movie was burnt to was a single layer disc anyway.
I'm totally baffled by this one and being a complete novice, I've got no idea where to begin looking for the answer.
Thanks for your help.
