I have a TV, VHS player, and a DVD recorder.
I connect the VHS player to the DVD recorder with a Scart lead.
I then connect the DVD recorder to the TV with another scart lead.
I set the DVD recorder "channel" to be on AV1 (or EXT1) so it is set up to get the signal from the VHS player via the scart lead.
I put a VHS tape in the VHS player and press Play. The image goes through the DVD recorder and appears on the TV.
Once that is all set up you just can just record anything that is playing on the VHS player (because it is going through the DVD recorder).
So put a VHS tape in the VHS player and a blank DVD disk in the DVD recorder.
Press Play on the VHS player and Record on the DVD recorder.
The DVD recorder will record whatever is being played on the VHS player.
Easy.
