Laptop to laptop

I have 2 identical HP laptops, one empty the other fully loaded, how can i transfer all the info and operating systems etc etc from 1 to the other, what cable do i need and how?

why include the OS?
the files and settings transfer wizard will transfer (yes that's right - your settings!!)

assuming the lappys have network fitted ...
buy a crossover cable
set up a peer-peer network ...

I think i have the correct cable, but is there a way of identifying if the cable is crossover by the letterring or numbers on it?

best way is compare the conductors
hold the two ends with the centre springy thing away from you
you should be able to see the colours
