Just plug the USB lead into the PC...XP will pick it up.

You need burning software to use it though...Nero or Record Now etc.

It should come with some form of burning software, hopefully.

You can have an external drive that plugs in to the usb port, or an internal drive which means opening the pc box.

Thank you for your answers
No one actually seems to be answering the question.
If I've mist an earlier thread apologies ....

And both of you are overlooking the fact that (however bad you think it is ... XP has it's own burning software (assisted by media player!!))

there are two types of device ... which if you are using windows XP are should both be "plug and play"

If the device is in an enclosure and has a USB interface .... just plug it in....
(if there is a quickstart guide just check to be safe)
Oh and your PC needs to have a USB2 interface (if there isn't already a burner ... it just might not be!)

If it's an internal device ... things ara a little more complicated ... and a little less certain. - because cases vary ... and you need to fix the unit into the case

This is a good description
