I'm having a bit of trouble with my CanoScan LiDE 30
scanner. When I bought it, it worked fine but a while ago my computer crashed and I had to install everything again.

When it came to the scanner, I realised I had misplaced the CD that came with it so I got Canon to send me another one. However, even after installing the software again my computer still doesn't seem to be picking up the scanner at all.

Does anyone know if I'm doing anything wrong? Or if there's another solution?

If it's any help my Xerox scanner is a b*gger to install.

I have to install the software BEFORE switching on or connecting the scanner. When I connect the scanner my PC doesn't connect it first-time. I have to run check for new hardware and then it works.
If it's any help my Xerox scanner is a b*gger to install.

I have to install the software BEFORE switching on or connecting the scanner. After the software is installed and the scanner connected my PC doesn't connect first-time. I have to run check for new hardware and it works perfectly from then on.

If I don't do that, then I have to completely uninstall and start again. Hope that helps.
have you tried going through the 'add hardware' wizard in Control Panel. If its connected it should recognise it.

I have the same scanner and find it very user friendly after the odd crash....
