Whale Hunting and the Bloody Japs
42 Answers
Where is the best place to write to express utter abhorrence at the Japs whaling mission to destroy at least 50 Humpback whales, and another 950 other breeds.
Although not a huge fan of the Japs, this truly shows what a cold race they are. Still eyes they have, which is quite menacing.
Whales live and migrate as families, often with the same members of the pods for years and years.
All this destruction will literally split families apart just so a few post-radioactive nips can have Whale meat in their bellies.
I have a good mind to fire bomb my local Toyota showroom, but I won't because it is illegal and wrong.
How can a nation be so blaze about the murders of these magnificent leviathons of our oceans?
So where do I write?

They are just total SCUMBAGS. As always, I wish all those who participate in animal abuse a slow and agonising death......

Something tells me that your written supplications are not going to have much sway, given that they are written from such an emotive standpoint.
Of course, I agree with you that the whale cull should not take place but you seem confused about Japanese culture as a whole and you are attributing the issue to the nation as a whole. Perhaps it would help if you understood that many Japanese people do not even know that these events take place. Most Japanese people eat much less animal protein than Europeans.
If you would like to petition on behalf of animal cruelty issues then also try our own politicians about dairy farming. Many Europeans are equally ignorant about the cruelty involved in milk and other dairy production.
Canned whale meat from Japan was eaten by our parents' generation during WWII; animal welfare is still ignored by English big-game hunters and the like. (Not to mention other European cruelties.)
I am still not trying to excuse the whale hunting in Japan nowadays but I find your racist comments hard to believe in this day and age. If you have ever known any Japanese people truly, then you will see that their eyes are not still or cold. Have you ever been to a Japanese wedding or seen Japanese people in love? No, their eyes are full of light, and Japanese eyes can be very beautiful.
The way forward for conservation and other issues is not for people over 35 to give off-the-cuff insults to 'nips' and other ethnic minorities, it is for people to work together in a non-confrontational manner for equal gain.
I fear that your emotive complaints would just be binned.
btw you seem to be a fan of David Bowie, who is a great fan of the Japanese race and who has immersed himself in the culture to an admirable degree. Isn't that why he wrote striking lyrics in the past? Are you not tempted to emulate that and discover more about what is obviously an alien culture to you?

Cherrycherry,
Mmmmmm Bowie is not a massive fan of the Japanese at all. He penned a song (moreover a tune) called Crystal Japan and had a few angry Jap words at the beginning of "It's No Game", but an immersion in to the culture, no. He favours a Buddhist stance and general Eastern philosophy, but has very few references to anything Japanesey.
I may not be the most politically correct of people and I am sorry if I refuse to bow to neo-marxian left wing borough councils and community imans, but when it comes to Mr Bowie, I do not need explaining facts. Especially not false information. Also, I do not have a racist bone in my body. but than again it doesn't matter if I do, because I am not over 35!!!!! (Strange thing to say, that was)
jno,
The difference between cod and whales is whales are an intelligent, warm bloodied community animal and cods are just...................well cods. It is hard to get emotionally attached to a fish, whereas whales have an intelligence about them which is rather touching.
I just hope the bloody Japs sort it out and bow to this international condemnation.
I've seen Tenko, I know what they are all about.

I disagree.
Firstly, It is assumed that cold bloodied animals do not feel pain. I will happily stand corrected on this if decent proof is published. But at the time being, I am inclined to accept they do not feel pain.
Secondly, cod are not harpooned and left for hours to die in agony.
Thirdly, cod, to the best of marine knowledge (which isn't great) are not family animals who migrate anywhere and stay with their young throighout life.
Fourthly, you can farm cod to replenish the species. One can not really farm whales if in danger.
Fifthly, do pregnant women or meditationists listen to "cod music". The answer is a resounding no, no and thrice no.
Save the Whale and stuff the Japs, a cruel race at times.

If you really believe that this is an issue of whale meat then I would suggest you write to berate the Government of the US of A - perhaps try the house at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW.
An unprecedented upsurge in the consumption of whale meat by the (irradiated) Japanese immediately following WW2 was a direct result of that country having few resources combined with the US occupying authorities urging whale meat be offered in classroom lunches nationwide as a cheap source of protein. For centuries whale meat had been a delicacy; under US influence, whale meat became part of Japanese everyday life and accounted for around 50% of animal protein intake.
Consumption has dropped dramatically during the intervening decades - currently around 1% of that during the 1960s - to around 30g per head of population per year. Pork and Beef account for more than 20kg and 25kg respectively.
Anyhoo, a thread on whaling already exists with a few additional thoughts on the selective anthropomorphism of edible mammals ...

If your argument had been limited to the Japanese claim of "scientific whaling" then we would have a shared opposition of a practice I view as needless barbarism.
cherrycherry - I thought the whale meat eaten by Britons in the aftermath of WW2 was from Norway?

Completely agree with the comments on here against this barbaric practice.
Just wondering how anyone feels about the equally disgusting shark fin fishing the japanese do as well? They pull sharks out of nets, cut off their fins, then through the body back in where it will drown and bleed to death. But then as they are cold blooded maybe they don't feel anything? Still seems very wrong to me...

i think you've kind of digressed a little from Bewlay Bros' orginal question. Yes he is emotional about it, and yes maybe he has generalised a little with regards to the Japanese population but at the end of the day it is still unecessary for the whaling to happen and unacceptable to many people, me included.
there are already many people opposed to this, including our government (DEFRA). You could email them to voice your concerns or even better support organisations such as Greenpeace who don't mince around, they get stuck in and physically oppose these actions.

Raggy Roman, you piece of filth.
I have never, ever said my English was perfect, but I thank you with all my heart for your input. However, dear chap (what a pathetic saying) at least I know if I am mentioning the definitive article, that being 'Leviathan', I am aware that it should be within inverted commas in the context you used.
That is the problem when the peasant class try to correct people on such miner trivialties. One must be 100 percent correct themselves otherwise they look a trifle silly. A point of which you have nicely proved.
Innit scum???
(PS miner was spelt incorrectly, just to excite you a little further)
