Hi there I have a mac laptop and a pc in the office running xp and my ipod from home when plugged into my new pc says that I have to restore /return the ipod to the factory setting because at present the ipod is mac formatt as apposed to windows formatted and therefore cannot talk to each other / update.

Is this true, if I reformat to windows wounldn't I have the same trouble then plugging into the mac at home isn't it going to say it needs to be mac format??? How do I get both to talk at the same time???

Thanks in advance.

No... Macs can read both Windows and Mac formats.

Windows machines can only read Windows-formatted drives.

Note that you'll lose music though. Make sure you have it on your computer too (either one).
