Windows File Open drop-down box

When I launch Windows Media Player or Real One player and select "File / Open" to navigate to a file, the "Open" panel that pops up contains a drop-down box which itself contains all the previous selections, going back months. How do I delete this list, ie initialise it back to empty, because it can't be done from the box itself ? I'm sure I've heard that you have to go and find the actual list that's maintained somewhere in Windows and remove it, but I can't remember where, and a file search for any of the names doesn't find them on my system. Can anyone help, please...?

In Realplayer, click tools.Click preferences.You will see in the box at the bottom an option to clear history and you can tick to save no history at all. Likewise in Winmed player. Click tools, click options, and at the bottom you will find the history options.
