Enlarge the font by clicking on view on your toolbar. Then scroll down to text size and adjust to your preferred size from there.
Do you mean on your desktop if so right click anywhere then select Properties then the APPEARANCE TAB and then font size
the main deciding factor is your eyes as below will sort out font size to sort that

the resolution is also dependant on the size of your screen .... and whether its crt or LCD

crt (generally) will use 800x600 or 1024x768 or possibly higherl - it depends on your monitor/video card

LCD screens have a "native" resolution
14-15": 1024x768 (XGA)
17-19": 1280x1024 (SXGA)
20"+: 1600x1200 (UXGA)
19 (Widescreen): 1440x900 (WXGA+)
20 (Widescreen): 1680x1050 (WSXGA+)
24 (Widescreen): 1920x1200 (WUXGA)
30 (Widescreen): 2560x1600

and this will gove the optimum quality
It's down to your monitor in some sense. Your monitor (in its instructions, or online) will have a recommended resolution for it to be set at, and a recommended refresh rate. Set it to these values, and see if that helps.
