...............for recording a 4 piece band. Anyone have any experience of the way to go? Ideally, I'd like a good soundcard, or external, with 4 separate inputs. I've done plenty of this with a single input and wave editor, but it would be good to be able to monitor and mix 4 independent inputs like a "proper" studio.............? :o)

Thanks Gromit - love that Garageband - I'll see if it's available for PC............should have said - shouldn't I?
Garageband is a Mac only programme. However, new Apple Macs run Microsoft and Apple systems. Garageband comes free with Macs.

Garageband files can later be used/opened/manipulated by the more professional Logic Pro. So if you do create some great in Garageband, it can be polished up in Logic Pro.

When you are happy with your recording mix in Garageband, you can burn straight to CD or into iTunes.
