I downloaded a new desktop I rather liked and although I am not saying it has caused the problem, I have had a few annoying things happen since so I decided to get rid of it using add/remove, but it will not remove . Keeps saying it cant find the file. I then tried to restore back to an earlier date, but that also wont work. Message is "Could not open INSTALL LOG FILE" has anyone any ideas on this. I have changed the desktop, but am still left with the colours on the windows and icons on the desktop.Thank you

There was an article in Computer Shopper, April 2007 "System restore doesn`t work". Have a look on their website, it may be available as an archive. Otherwise see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 309531.
If it's just the desktop
right click | properties | desktop
choose old faithful telly tubbies
Click on start, control panel, display, desktop, and then delete the one that is showing.
I downloaded an aquarium desktop and had this trouble but this got rid of it.
Good Luck

Thanks for all your help. I have emailed Computeractive and am just about to see if there is a reply. I cannot change it via display for some reason. Driving me mad as each time I go to a new page I get Tom Hanks giving orders to the dog. Would love it if it weren't interferring with everything as I love the gogs and the film.
