my mates just got a laptop, had it approx 2 weeks . today he turned it on. only curser visable no desktop icons...any help please

Have you tried turning it off and on again.

Hold power button down til it goes off
release power button and press to turn on.

cockney......cheers he has just done that now the icons are there but no curser.....waiting for him to ring back
