PC Problem - "D R is missing" What does this mean?

My sister has just tried to turn her pc on and has got a black screen with the error message "D R is missing ss Ctrl, Alt & Del to restart " When she tries this nothing happens.
Any ideas what it could be?

I can't help with a solution but mattie is correct. Your display seems to be losing the first three characters on each line. The full message is:

NTLDR is missing
Press Ctrl, Alt & Del to restart

Thanks for that. Starting to make some sense now as her BF has said he saw a strange file in the recycle bin yesterday which he didn't recognise.

Apparently PC World did not include Bootable CD when she bought it and so she can't boot it up from one! Can they use someone elses or will they have to buy one?
