Windows DVD Maker probs

Whenever I use windows DVD maker to create a dvd, when it is watched back on ALL TVs, the picture has been squashed so that 2 black bars appear down each side of the screen. It is NOT the files, as it happens with them all (burning with other software doesn't produce same result), and in the settings, I have it set to copy in 16:9 ratio. If I watch any of the files on my PC, then the image is fine, it's only when DVD Maker is involved the prob starts. When the menu appears at the start of the disc, that is shown in full widescreen, but when the file plays, the black bars appear :-( I'm using Vista home premium btw.
Any help/advice appreciated!!
Cheers :-)
