Tablet PC for Creative Projects?
2 Answers
Ave, (Latin for Hi!)
I'm looking for the best kind of computer to use for endeavoring in creative projects. I'd like to be able to take up sketching on a tablet, and manipulate my works with photoshop. I'd also mainly use the computer for writing - poetry, prose, etc. No games though, or any wild, memory-consuming programs.
My school offers a tablet PC (Lenovo X60, and actually offers = mandatory for ALL students, and it's about 5k a semester) and of course, I was giddy at first - YAY A TABLET :) I CAN ACTUALLY WRITE ON MY PC NOW!!! - but the novelty wore off as soon as I realized just how sucky and slow it was. There's lag between when you scribble and when it actually appears :P .. which in turn lags whatever you scribble next, sometimes not even having it register. I, using my super amateur-hope-to-God-that-I-didn't-break-my-laptop skills, opened up the expansion module on the back of the laptop and found that IT IS IN FACT maxed out! My school actually maxed out all our laptops to the full capacity of 2 GB RAM! INCREDIBLE :P.... so it's slow... even WITH its speed at max.
So long story short... When I get the funds (still working this part out), I am planning on buying a new tablet... Which would be best for my needs? Should I buy a PC and if I do, which kind... or should I give in to what everyone at my school is raving about - and buy a Mac w/ Leopard?
