My wireless router at home has stopped working, after about four weeks. Do you think I should uninstall it and reinstall it?

If there is power to the unit it is worth trying the following IN THE EXACT ORDER or it won't work.
1. Switch router, modem (if seperate) and all computers off at the mains.
2. Wait at least 2 minutes.
3. Switch on the modem .... and wait at least 30 seconds for the lights to settle.
4. Switch on the router (if seperate) .. and wait at least 30 seconds.
5. Switch on pcs and laptops

Thanks Ethel - you're so clever. I've printed this off to try when I get home. I had switched the computer off, but not the modem, which is downstairs and the computer is upstairs, which is why we bothered to go wireless. The internet light is on on the modem, but the light wasn't coming on on the router. When the message came up saying that we weren't connected to the internet, and we went through al lthe diagnostics, it came up with the problem with the router, and it was only then I realised the light wasn't on. I'll give that a go tonight as I say. While I think on, by "switch off the router" , is that "unplug it from the back of the computer"?
I was mixing up the names of all the bits & pieces! The router (the white box from TalkTalk) was working downstairs, with the lights lit that ought to be lit. I thought that was called a modem. The adapter, (the black stick from Belkin) was not working upstairs. Tsk. I don't know if I should be allowed to use computers. Anyway, we tried switching off and on in the correct order, but it still wasn't working, so we brought the router upstairs with a wire going from the phone line downstairs, plugged the router into the puter with the red ethernet cable, threw the adapter out of the window and it works fine now. Retrieved the adapter from the garden and off to Currys on Saturday to change it. Thanks very much for being here and trying to help me.
