que?

cd will play .... dvds won't
unless the unit is less than 8x
the full list of formats should be ok

try googling the make +model
You will just have to experiment.

Older CD players struggle with CD-R and CD-RW. Newer players will have no problem.
Round ones. Seriously, Gromit is right - you'll just have to try. Some will play mp3,or CDR's, some won't.

Thank you for your answers. Having investigated this further I discover that Sony cds are the worst for compatibility. Their technology is different from Philips for example who are of course an enemy. I got the Sony cds at a reduced price and recorded all my digital pictures then carried on recording my vinyl collection on cd. The recordings although in the correct format would only play on my Sony dvd player and not on my very good cd player. The Philips I have just bought play on both without problems and so avoids having two different playing platforms for the family music collection. Now I know what to do in future. Thanks.
