Rojash I have noticed from previous posts that you seem to be an "expert" ref computers etc, please help, I have an Acer Laptop, vista windows, just recently it has continually went back to "log in" this happens no matter what I am working at, I then have to keep re entering my password, then it returns to what I was
previously working on, I tried to troubleshoot
and downloaded a free Reg Cure scan, it told
me I had a number of errors and would need to buy the full package for 9.99, is this advisable
Hope I have explained this well enough for you
to understand, please help!

This is not a full answer to your question, as I know very little of Vista.

However, I do not about these 'free' registry scans that come back with false positives to encourage you to spend money needlessly. So please don't buy this product.

If you need advice re excellent free firewall, antivirus, antispyware, antitrojan software, start a new thread where you will get plenty of good advice.

In the meantime - try this to see if it solves your problem:

Control Panel->Display->Screensaver->Uncheck "On resume, display welcome screen".
Hi Mary

Sorry I didn't see your question earlier, but I guess from her 3 stars that Ethel has solved your problem. I would just say that I agree entirely with Ethel that those scanners that find errors for free and then demand money to fix them are generally a total rip-off.

I would also add that whilst it's very flattering to have a question addressed to me personally, there are a number of us (you've already found Ethel!) on here who are pretty well qualified to help, and by addressing a question to an individual you might discourage useful replies from others.

Rojash Thanks for your reply, and Ethel as well
I gave Ethel a star rating because she? took the
time to give me a prompt reply, unfortunately
my problem isn't solved, but I'll take your advice
and address my queries generally! Thanks
for the help, I'll keep working on my problem
and hope it will be resolved soon!!
Ok, well if your problem's not solved, a couple of questions:

You say this happens, no matter what you are working at - do you mean you could actually be typing at the time? If so, does it happen if you are NOT typing but you ARE working (i.e. just using the mouse)

Is there a detectable regularity (say every 15, 20, 30 minutes)?
Question Author
rojash happens regularly 15mins or so, for eg
while I am typing this message it may "go off"
I don't use mouse, vista laptop. It occurs also
if I am checking something on Google, goes back
to "Insert Password" hope this is explanatory
enough as I am not computer "jargoned", my
computer mainly used for leisure etc.
In your first post you said it wet back to "log in" now you say "insert password" - which is correct?

I'm wondering if you have set Outlook or Outlook Express to check for new mail every 15 minutes, and you haven't saved told it to remember your e-mail password?

If this is not the case, can you describe exactly what you see on the screen when it happens - what does the window that pops up look like? What questions are asked (EG does it ask for your username and password [possibly with the username already filled in], or just a password?

These little differences are important when trying to diagnose a problem :-)

Rojash, sorry if I have "confused" you with my
explanation, when I am working on my computer
for eg being here on AB my screen suddenly
"goes back" to "LOCKING YOUR COMPUTER"
then "Password" which I have to insert to get back to what I was previously working on which does bring me back to where I left off. Hope
this is a better explanation, no one else I have
talked to can help! Thanks for your interest.
p.s. I haven't used Outlook Express
