PC turns itself off
4 Answers
Can anyone tell me why my pc turns itself off?? I can be using it fine and then it will just switch itself off. Doesn't matter if I am online or not. Sometimes it doesn't even finish loading up! I have "air sprayed" it clean and I have Spysweeper and PC tools Anti-virus. When I scan for problems it rarely comes back with any. I regularly run a registry fixer aswell. I have fitted an extra fan but it the temp can be anything up to 43 degrees when I restart it. It shows no pattern and can work for hours or turn itself off five times in an hour!!! I have been told that I need more RAM, I only have 224mb. Is this correct?? Help me please. (made it)

To me it's possible it's a processor shutdown due to overheating. You can check it by taking a side panel off and making sure the fans are working. Start up a few programs at the same time and listen if the fans get louder. It varies but processors start to shut down if the temps exceed 70C.
If the power supply shuts down to overheating then everything shuts down including fans. If the processor shuts down due to overheating the fans should stay on.
