As a father of 3, I'm well into digital photography. I own a fuji finepix f601 zoom I'm more than happy with it, My printer is a epsom r200 excellent quality prints at A4. Also my camera records video upto a good few minutes depending on quality settings & size of memory card. I have shot a lot of video of my family uploaded them to my computer, and watch them back on my pc. but all of a sudden after about 12 months or over, all i get is sound & no picture, i'v tried downloading codecs, but cant get them to play, I also downloaded windows media player 10. i'm on xp. sorry to go on a bit i,v had a drink. my question is can i downgrade back to windows media player 9, to see if this solves my problem. or is there something else i can try, plz help i got some cracking footage of my children.
I don't think you can uninstall the media player but, if you can, it will be in the "add/remove" programs in the control panel. You have other options, though: you can roll back to an earlier time in your PCs life using the system restore option (like restoring to a point before you installed the new media player) or you couild try playing the video files using another multimedia application like Real Player.
Also this is a prime example of a failure to back up important files, they could now be corrupt and therefore may not play whatever player you use. With the cost CD-RW units and media at an all-time low there is now no excuse not to back up large files.
The camera records videos using the MJPEG codec, which.. for some reason might have been overwritten. Don't lose hope... i doubt your avi files have randomly all corrupted.

I had a different set of problems with media player 10 and found it was impossible to uninstall. My solution was to use the system restore function of XP, to reset my system to the day before I installed media player 10. Now I'm happily back with media player 9.
